I completed my Psychotherapy training at the Sherwood Institute (SPTI), Nottingham. Prior to that I completed postgraduate courses at Aston (Psychology) and Newman University (Graduate certificate counselling and psychotherapy).

I have worked in all aspects of social care for over a decade - primarily in the mental health arena. This I consider, has given me more understanding and experience of people’s emotional difficulties, but also a greater sense of empathy for those in trouble emotionally. Something that can happen to us all.

If you would like to enquire about what I offer, or booking a session, please get in touch using my contact details below.

My treatment areas are on the ‘my therapy’ page.

I look forward to

hearing from you. Thank you.

Greg

We all have many parts of our character that we show proudly to the world, and those we hide away in the hope they won’t be seen by others. This hiding away is driven by the messages (often shaming) we receive from society, family, wider culture. Inner conflict and emotional / mental health symptoms (anxiety, depression, perfectionism etc) arise as we attempt to ‘keep a lid on’ all the aspects of ourselves (unmet relational needs, personality traits, desires, feelings and emotions) that feel threatening.

The process of psychotherapy - not only makes you feel more accepting of yourself - it often reveals that these hidden parts of you, are in fact pathways to a new approach to life, and relationships. What was once ‘bad’, ‘wrong’, strange’, ‘scary’ to you, about yourself, becomes a meaningful step towards greater self awareness, inner peace, change (where required), and an authentic life.

I don’t believe that the one-dimensional approach - of focusing solely on your childhood, and past history - is going to be as beneficial to you, as looking at your difficulties from a broader perspective.

Wider society and culture affects us all, whether we know It or not. I can help you untangle all the influences on your current difficulties, instead of just encouraging a ‘pointing the finger at yourself’ narrative. Self responsibility is paramount, but so is recognizing how the environment that surrounds you every day impacts upon our mental, and emotional health.

Also your unique temperament / personality. You may be an introvert, extrovert, have autistic or high sensitivity traits. Knowing this about yourself, really helps you to navigate the world differently, and change how you view your problems and difficulties.

‘It’s not just you, your past experiences - but the wider culture, and environment, that impacts upon you (and your difficulties)’
